Dala Hus is 1700 sq. ft. two levels with 700 sq. ft. of porches
Additional 700 sq. ft. of porches; 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with tiled walk-in showers. Dala Hus has a Scandinavian-Swedish decor with a yellow and blue scheme. Note that we have lots of original artwork throughout the house.
Location
Dala Hus is in Canyon Lake Village at the south end of Canyon Lake, Texas 78133. Dala Hus on Rock Castle, is a few blocks from Boat Launch #1. Canyon Lake Village has a visitors center at Texas 2673 and Triple Peak Drive — next road after Skyline.
From Austin On southbound I35, pass through Kyle and San Marcus and take exit 191 to westbound Texas 306. Dala Hus is about 26 minutes from exit 191 of I35. (Note that your GPS may put you on a shorter route; we do not recommend it.) You’ll skirt New Braunfels and cross the T intersection of Purgatory road at a stop light and gas station. Keep driving a few more miles and then go south onto Texas 2673 at the stop light T intersection. Go through Sattler and its stop light. Less than 3 miles, turn onto Skyline Drive; past Boat Launch 1 to Rock Castle on the right.
From Johnson City, Marble Falls, or San Antonio On the west side side of Canyon Lake you may exit US 281 onto Texas 306.
From New Braunfels Northbound Texas 46 and exit to 2722 and eastbound on Texas 2673 to Skyline
Bedrooms and Beds
Enjoy great sleeping accommodations with king-size bed in master bedroom, queen-size beds in the two guest bedrooms, and a quality IKEA pull-out bed in the living room.
Master Bedroom
Everyone loves the comfort of the IKEA king-size bed. The master bedroom gives a great canyon view through the screened sliding door to porch. The master bedroom is, like all the other rooms, equipped with its own heating, cooling, and humidity equipment (Mitsubishi wall unit). The Master Bedroom closet has large storage space, and gives access to the laundry washer and dryer. The closet has its own heating/cooling unit.
Not visible in the above image, is a table with seating for six.
Guest Bedrooms
The guest bedrooms both have queen-size beds, chest of drawers, desk. The sliding glass door leads out to the porch.
Each bedroom has sliding door to porch; both are screened. Enjoy a vista of our Skyline flower garden when it’s in-season and before the numerous neighborhood deer munch it down.
The porch offers seating and a hammock.
Additional Beds
The living room IKEA sofa unfolds into a bed.
And blow-up mattresses.
For infants we have an infant bed.
Bathrooms and Showers
Two tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers with glass doors.
Kitchen and Dining
Dala Hus has a modern kitchen with island cook-top range, furnished with IKEA products, naturally, and all the usual kitchen appliances and gadgets.
Dining Out
If you do not feel like cooking, close-by are Italian Gardens, Gennaro’s Trattoria, Granny D’s, Startzville Cafe, Wildflour Grill, and The Real BBQ. For a delightful breakfast inclusion, checkout KafeKali Coffee and Bakery on FM2673. We like to head into New Braunfels and dine at McAdoo’s Seafood Company ($$) or Alpine Haus Restaurant ($$$)
Laundry
Modern washer and dryer. The washer and dryer do their jobs well, if you pay attention to the host of settings! You can read the washer and dryer pdf files in your spare time after you are given access to the Guests page.
Lake Access
Boat Launch #1 is a little over ½ mile away. The boat launch in NOT for swimming; check out the US Canyon Lake parks and beaches instead.
Parking
Walk-in parking. At the bridge entry there is room for one big vehicle or two smaller ones. There is adequate parking in the paved drive way in front of the garage.
Porches
Both levels have 38′ x 10′ porches. The porch through the sliding glass doors from the living room is screened. The adjacent porch via the master bedroom sliding glass doors is not screened. There is seating for six at the table. The downstairs porch has a hammock, exercise bike, and chairs and cushions that can be brought in from the garage.

Rock Castle Dala Hus Privacy
Our vacation house is on a cul-de-sac (dead end) so there is not a lot of traffic, but we do want our guests to respect our neighbors.
What is Nearby
Lowes and Brookshire grocery stores are nearby, but we usually stock up at the HEB on 306 when we are coming in. There is a Walmart at Spring (46 & 281). In Sattler find Ace Hardware, an auto supply store, USPS, and lots of resale shops.
