Welcome to our Texas Hill County Canyon Lake vacation rental. Our Dala Hus is nicely appointed and has a modern kitchen, porches, paved off-street parking, and privacy. The living room and bedrooms connect through sliding glass doors to porches. The master bedroom has a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed. The master bathroom has a glass door walk-in shower and the house is tiled throughout.
The guest bedrooms each have queen-size beds and connect via sliding glass doors to a large porch. The tiled bathroom has a walk-in shower. The upper and lower porches offer a nice view of the Triple Peak range; the view of the setting sun is spectacular.
We have always thought that Rock Castle Dala Hus would be nice for a retreat of sorts for one or two couples. Aside from the song birds chattering, Dala Hus is a good place to enjoy peace and quiet.

We enjoy the solitude of Dala Hus, the cedar-covered hills, sunsets over the Triple-Peak range, solitary walks on the Guadalupe River trails and more. We enjoy the songs of various migrating birds throughout the year. We have bird feeders and a hummingbird feeder.
Rock Castle Dala Hus is a good location convenient to New Braunfels with its Schlitterbahn Water Park, Gruene with its dance hall, Boerne, Bandera, and Austin. The giant outlet shopping mall in San Marcos on I35 is handy too.
The nearby small Canyon Lake towns of Sattler and Startzville we’ve found have most of what we need on a typical week end while staying at Dala Hus. For special dining menus and better selection we like the HEB on Texas 46 going towards New Braunfels. There is also a Brookshires on the north side of the lake. There is a nice farmers market on FM2722 on the way to HEB called Stahlmans at Bear Creek-Farm Stand and Pecans.
Our vacation home is called “Dala Hus” because the home has a Swedish – Scandinavian flavor; Haus would be the German spelling. We call it “Rock Castle” as well as Dala Hus because our vacation rental home is built on a rocky Texas Hill Country limestone outcropping.

Additional 700 sq. ft. of porches; 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with tiled walk-in showers. Dala Hus has a Scandinavian-Swedish decor with a yellow and blue scheme. Note that we have lots of original artwork throughout the house.
Location
Dala Hus is in Canyon Lake Village at the south end of Canyon Lake, Texas 78133. Dala Hus on Rock Castle, is a few blocks from Boat Launch #1. Canyon Lake Village has a visitors center at Texas 2673 and Triple Peak Drive — next road after Skyline.
From Austin On southbound I35, pass through Kyle and San Marcus and take exit 191 to westbound Texas 306. Dala Hus is about 26 minutes from exit 191 of I35. (Note that your GPS may put you on a shorter route; we do not recommend it.) You’ll skirt New Braunfels and cross the T intersection of Purgatory road at a stop light and gas station. Keep driving a few more miles and then go south onto Texas 2673 at the stop light T intersection. Go through Sattler and its stop light. Less than 3 miles, turn onto Skyline Drive; past Boat Launch 1 to Rock Castle on the right.
From Johnson City, Marble Falls, or San Antonio On the west side side of Canyon Lake you may exit US 281 onto Texas 306.
From New Braunfels Northbound Texas 46 and exit to 2722 and eastbound on Texas 2673 to Skyline
